Premiers Active April
Fancy a free, weekly 5km fun run? parkrun organise free, weekly, 5km timed runs in 15 locations across Victoria. They’re open to everyone and are safe and easy to participate in.
These events are not races, are held in pleasant parkland surroundings and encourage people of every ability to take part; from those taking their first steps in running to Olympians; from juniors to those with more experience.
parkrun started in London’s Bushy Park in 2004 and has grown to more than 250 events in the UK as well as expanding to countries including Poland, South Africa, Denmark, Singapore, New Zealand … and Australia.
In Victoria there are currently fifteen parkruns, located at:
The great thing about parkrun is that it is on at the same time (8am) in the same place, over the same distance (5km) every week. So you can get into a great habit of using this as a regular Saturday morning run and, if you want, test yourself to see how you improve over time.
Once registered as a parkrunner, you can easily join in other parkruns when travelling. With 68 parkruns now staged every Saturday morning across Australia you have an excellent chance of finding one nearby when travelling.
parkrun is free and run totally by volunteers. All they ask is that if you participate regularly, you volunteer up to three times a year to help out and keep parkrun alive and running.
