Banyule City Council

Banyule City Council also has these other free local activities available.

  • Tai Chi Qugong

Come along for a FREE session of Tai Chi Qugong on Monday 3 April, 11am to 11.30am. Tai Chi helps improve your health, strength, balance, concentration and mental well-being and is loads of fun.

  • Zumba Gold Class with Deb

Try a FREE session on Monday 24 April, 10am to 10.45am. Shake it at your own pace. This session is perfect for all fitness levels.

  • Aerobics for 50+ years

Come along and try a FREE session of Aerobics on Thursday 13 April from 10 am to 10.45am, or try a gentle Aerobics session on Thursday 13 April from 10.45am to 11.30am, this class is designed for those less active (session is with Debbie).

  • Carpet Bowls and Cards

Try carpet bowls or cards for FREE during April on Monday or Thursday afternoons from 12.30pm to 3.30pm.

  • Free Dance – Old Time/New Vogue

Every Saturday afternoon during the month of April from 1.30pm to 4pm. Even if you don’t dance come along and listen to the music and have a cuppa.

Free walking group on Tuesday 11 April at 9.30am. An easy 3.5 km walk at Ruffey Lake Park in Doncaster followed by a coffee and a chat. Meet at The Boulevard car park off George Street, Doncaster.

  • Neighbour Day – Sunday 26 March 2017

Neighbour Day, Australia’s annual celebration of community, brings together people from next door, across the street or down the road for a beer, a barbie or just a cuppa!

Held annually on the last Sunday in March, it’s the perfect day to get together with neighbours and thank them for being there when you need them the most.

Manningham City Council

Manningham City Council has joined in the fun of increased physical activity for the month of April offering participants local activities and events including:

  • Introductory Circuit Class, and more!

City of Port Phillip

The City of Port Phillip has partnered with many community organisations to deliver a calendar of events and activities committed to working with local groups to improve the health and wellbeing of the community as part of 2017 Premier’s Active April.

There are many different free and exciting activities and programs on offer including:

  • Outdoor group exercise training
  • Boxing classes
  • Dance workouts
  • Walking groups
  • Sea kayaking
  • Boot camps
  • Croquet
  • Angling lessons
  • Parkrun

How do I get involved?

  1. Register for Premier’s Active April.
  2. Download the City of Port Phillip Active April Calendar.
  3. Contact the activity facilitator for further information, safety and equipment needs.
  4. Bring your Active April card to your chosen activity and have fun!

Swan Hill Rural City Council

Swan Yoga Bliss is offering all registered participants:

  • 4 yoga classes for $32 (normally $16 a session)
  • receive 2 free classes when you purchase 2 yoga or meditation class passes

  • yoga starting at 9am on 2, 9, 23 and 30 April at Riverside Park
  • yoga starting at 6.15pm on 20 and 27 April at Neighbourhood House
  • meditation at 6.15pm on 18 April at Barefoot Beauty

Here are some other great ways to get active in Swan Hill throughout April 2017:

  • Lunchtime badminton and basketball skills on 5, 12, 19 and 26 April 2017 from 12pm until 2pm on Wednesdays at Swan Hill Basketball Stadium, Albert Street, Swan Hill. Enquiries to Jack O’Rourke on 0438 229 129.
  • Casual bike rides starting at 6.20am on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Meet at the Swan Hill Clock Tower on Wednesdays and Thursdays. Contact Steve Beams from Bikes and Trikes on 5033 2032 for instructions on where to meet on Tuesdays.
  • Group fitness classes starting at 9am on Saturdays at Swan Hill Leisure Centre, Pritchard Street, Swan Hill.
  • Free MDAS boot camp from 5.30pm until 6.30pm on Mondays and Wednesdays at Swan Hill Primary School, Murlong Street, Swan Hill. Please bring water and a towel. MDAS recommends that participants have a health check prior to participation. Bookings required on 5032 5277.
  • Riverside walks with Fiona Gormann from 1pm on 21 and 28 April 2017. Meet at ‘The Wetlands’.

Wellington Shire Council

Wellington Shire Council has teamed up with GippSport to promote ‘social sport options’ – a more flexible version of the original sport to Active April participants. Options include Fast4 Tennis, Rock Up Netball, Casminton, Jack Attack, Futsal and Fast Hockey.
