HOW DO I START A WORKPLACE TEAM?

It’s easy. Once you Register for Active April you can create teams – either from the Team prompts at the end of registration or the Teams page once you log in. Simply select ‘Workplace Team’ as your ‘Team Type’, click ‘Create Team’ and then start inviting your workmates to join.

HOW DO I INVITE WORKMATES TO JOIN MY TEAM?

Workmates can join your team in a couple of ways:

  1. Send an email around your workplace stating the Team ID (you’ll find this under ‘Manage your Teams’, ‘Team Details’). Your workmates can then register and log in, go to the Teams page and accurately enter your Team ID including all letters, numbers and hyphens under “Request to join a Team”. You’ll then receive an email notification prompting you to accept their request. Or choose the option to allow people to automatically join without you having to accept their request. Simply tick the box ‘People can join this team without my approval’ when creating the team.
  2. Alternatively, you can use the email addresses or Active April usernames of the people you wish to invite. You can send them an invite from the ‘Teams’ page once you’ve logged in. They will be notified and prompted to join your team.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF STARTING A WORKPLACE TEAM?

Active April is a great way to build camaraderie and increase the level of physical activity in your workplace.

You can also go into the running to win these great Prizes:

  • A come and try Nordic Walking session

IF SOMEONE LEAVES THE TEAM WILL THEIR RECORDED ACTIVITY TIME DISAPPEAR?

Yes. Your team’s ‘total activity’ measures all the activity of current team members at that point in time. If team members leave, their recorded time will no longer be included in the team total.

OUR WORKPLACE IS HUGE. HOW MANY PEOPLE CAN JOIN A TEAM?

There is no limit on the number of people in a team. In fact, the more people from your workplace that register for Active April, the better your chances are of winning the awesome workplace prizes!

You can either have one team for all your workmates or multiple teams, see below.

CAN WE HAVE MORE THAN ONE TEAM WITHIN OUR WORKPLACE?

Yes. If you have a large workplace you can choose to have teams for each division or group. This could be a fun way to keep motivated and compare different team’s total activity and activity types too!

You can create up to 5 teams and join up to 10. To ensure you have flexibility to make family and friend teams within your 5, if you’re planning to make multiple teams for one workplace we recommend that a different person be the ‘Team Owner’. That way they can rally their workmates and encourage more people to join the fun.

Try to allow no more than 2 hours a day of screen time like TV and computer games. Make a rule that everyone must get up and walk around during commercials to get some physical activity.
